Brandon, Josie, & Loretta
Brandon and I (Josie) were both raised on local cattle farms. We each played a key role in management on those farms but couldn’t wait to get out on our own farm to “push the boundaries” on old traditions. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science while Brandon attended welding school and traveled, we were married in May of 2014, then were on the hunt for a farm to grow our herd.
In August of 2015, we purchased our dream farm in southern Maries County MO and shortly after, moved our cows in with us. For many hours, we discussed and designed our management intensive grazing system which has now been functioning for 3 plus years. Most of it was installed while I was pregnant with our daughter during the spring and summer of 2016. Loretta arrived shortly after in September and quickly adapted to being apart of our wild lives. She loves to help mom and dad move cows to fresh grass and look for new baby calves. To learn more about our beef, click here
In 2019, we decided to throw cut flowers into the loop! I have always had a love for flowers but didn’t get too intense with them until that point. The first summer/fall consisted of many trials and errors but I harvested many flowers and really enjoyed it! In 2020, we have chosen to mostly specialize our types of flowers. This summer/fall will consist of dahlias in many sizes and colors and sedum of two different varieties. Starting in 2021, we should have a nice sized harvest of peonies! They were tucked into the ground in fall of 2019 and take a couple of years to become ready for harvest. To learn more about our flowers, click here
